Your Place 03:21
A 30-year-old electoral bribe Is still hurting today Back then a few got to win but since so Many have been left to pay And the voices of moral outrage have all cried And questioned why nothing ‘s changed well They say they tried but the problem’s Too big and too old, And too complex we’re told, It’s their fault and not ours, We’re stuck with no powers. Easy to say that we all deserve our own space But it looks like they’re keeping you in your place. They were told what you get you bank The councils towed the line So building stopped and it‘s stalled since Landlords are doing fine And the voices of the young are left hung out to dry Are prompting so many pledges But still they cry, that the problem’s Too big and too old, And too complex we’re told, It’s their fault and not ours, We’re stuck with no powers. Easy to say that we all deserve our own space But it looks like they’re keeping you in your place Easy to say that we all deserve our own space But it looks like they’re keeping you in your place A hundred years ago - rent control and mortgages for all And yet after 30 years we‘re still, Lacking nothing but will.

Aches, pains and other little annoyances, A brittle creakiness, An inevitable erosion of flexibility, A stealthy dulling of the senses, An increasing world weariness Remind yourself that you’re alive The state of everyday life Is dull and mundane, The state of fears, dreams, hopes and longings are vibrant and alive – Brightly coloured and compulsive; They’re closer to the truth.

It’s not me Who makes all your troubles go away I’d be so much more value every day I watch you close, I wish that I could burst through the blue, Be a warm cloak of comfort just for you It’s not you, This person in your mind’s not who others see, It’s someone else they know admiringly There’s nothing left to worry you here, You’ve nothing at all to fear, Whatever we may go through, I want to make it better for you, Whatever happens to me and you, I want to make it better for you You fear the worst, As if the lowest viewpoint’s the only one, But there’s so much more to you that’s said and done You know all that, That courage is your vital natural shield, There are demons yes but you never yield There’s nothing to diminish you now, You’ll break free if you’ll allow, Whatever I say and do I want to be better for you Whatever happens to me and you, I want to make it better for you There’s nothing that I would not try for you, To make sure that we get by, I know that it can be so too, So much better for you

Facts can’t be alternative. Everyone knows what you’re saying, There’s only one truth, Everyone knows the game you’re playing Those whose time has come, Have momentum and righteous place, Their victory has encouraged, A stance as open public face Not a promise but a pledge and intention, Actually a lie and invention Suddenly what you feel is right, Is attacked as so much bias and lies, We can choose to melt away, Or to take our sides Not a promise but a pledge and intention, Actually a lie and invention

Our Own Prey 03:41
There’s no point thinking – it’s for one day, That’s not a plan – just something to say, But it’s far too easy, For intentions to slip away. Our time’s a gift – we know so well, It’s our own stories – that we will tell, It’s our call, It’s us that we must compel. When comfort mean paralysis, And opportunities forever missed, It’s not exactly lying, Or laziness in not trying, But it is just time flying, Away. Once I would scorn those – who prevaricate, But when you’re young – it’s never too late, But urgency now, Should never make us afraid. It’s stupid and hopeless – to stand in our own way, It mugs us and robs us – of our own days, We are our victim, We are our own prey. When comfort mean paralysis, And opportunities forever missed, It’s not exactly lying, Or laziness in not trying, But it is just time flying, Away. How could I have been so sure back in those days? Maybe every decision should have gone another way Even if so that’s no reason to be frozen today
